Anyone who knew how profoundly Beethoven's 10th String Quartet, Op.74, influenced nearly every aspect of the last half century of my life might have reasonably anticipated the publication of my own 10th Quartet coinciding with The Master's 248th birthday, last Sunday. While that in fact nearly happened, it was purely by coincidence, and had never been part of the plan. And I daresay it honored Beethoven's spirit far more to spend an additional four days honing and polishing the Rondo of this work into some semblance of competence, than any amount of commemorative publication might have suggested.

Besides which, there is always the 250th birthday, in 2020, to target. ;p
